The Trope team was pleased to celebrate the release of Weeds Tavern, the new book from Sergio Mayora and Dave Hoekstra, with a party featuring a book signing, gallery show, musical acts, and poetry readings on January 24.
The exhibit featured prints of some of the posters in the book that were originally used to promote Weeds, the iconic Chicago bar where Sergio served as host and bartender. These singular cut-and-paste works of art are more than just eye-catching, they are also thought-provoking.
Along with a book signing, guests were treated to live musical acts, including by Nicholas Tremulis and from Sergio Mayora himself, who moved the crowd with a stirring rendition of “Teach Me Tonight".
We were excited to share the magic of Weeds Tavern with such a passionate audience and look forward to sharing more of Trope artists’ works in future exhibits.
